Site disclaimer

Rusholme wind farm is between Goole and Selby. The site was first proposed in 2000 and the application submitted in 2004. The plans for the wind farm were eventually passed in 2006 but it wasn't until three years later that construction commenced in November 2009.

After the years of dreading the wind farm, the work suddenly started early one morning when earth moving equipment arrived opposite 8 homes and started digging a turning circle for all construction traffic to enter the site. The route was along what had been a narrow farm track and public footpath going by the end of the homes.

The residents suffered vibration from heavy earth moving equipment and vibrating road rollers. Cracks appeared in the walls of their homes. Roads were damaged and either covered in mud from the site or dust during dry periods.

24,000 heavy lorries passed by their homes.

We have followed the contruction phase in our photo log and produced a full presenation of what it is actually like living next to a wind farm site during the contruction period.

We hope you find it informative. This was a relatively small site with 12 turbines of only 100metres height.

Please allow time for the file to load. It contains aerial photographs and graphics and so it is quite a large file. Hopefully it is worth the wait.
