5 Maps with everything you need to know about how many turbines and where they are.

The "Other sites" map has all the wind farms in this area that we know about. Turbines from Doncaster to Darlington or even from Derby to Dunbar if the madness continues. Complete destruction of our countryside driven by greed and an ill considered Government policy on energy.

Why not go and have a look. The 80 metre high test masts on the Bishopwood and Woodlane sites are there now. The top of the turbine rotors will be more than half as high again. Turbines will be visible from Gateforth over the top of the wood. In Poole and Burton Salmon you will see them over the trees.

The largest of our poplar trees are only 30 metres high, less than a quarter of the height of the turbines.

The Woodlane site stretches 2.5km from Roe Lane towards West Haddlesey. Homes in Gateforth, Birkin, West Haddlesey and along Hillam Common Lane will be within 1 km of at least one turbine. Some homes will have as many as 7 turbines within a 1 mile range. Some homes will be in shadow of rotor blades at certain times of the year. Those in West Haddlesey on summer evenings and one home on Common Lane will be in shadow around noon in mid-winter. The developer says it will be easy to resolve; turbines could be stopped when the problem occurs. This misses the point - these turbines are simply too close to peoples homes.
